Visual Novel Muv-Luv Likely Coming To PS Vita

The Muv-Luv visual novel localization Kickstarter campaign has broken records last week in reaching its funding goal of $250.000 just in a few hours. Now the campaign is close hitting the $500.000 stretch goal for a PS Vita port and there are still 35 days left so a PS Vita version is very likely now.

Muv-Luv is a very popular visual novel trilogy that was released in Japan between 2003 and 2006 and sold more than half a million units since its release in Japan alone. Written by the successful author Koki Yoshimune, the visual novel started as a high school romance game but later evolved into an epic science fiction based saga with an alternate world, giant aliens, mecha robots featuring a complex cast of characters.

The Muv-Luv trilogy consists of Muv-Luv Extra, Muv-Luv Unlimited and Muv-Luv Alternative:

  • Muv-Luv Extra
The first game follows the love romance of high school student Shirogane Takeru who has to choose between his childhood friend Kagami Sumika and a mysterious girl named Mitsurugi Meya.
  • Muv-Luv Unlimited
In the second game, Takeru finds himself in a parallel world fighting alien invaders for the United Nations 11th Force.
  • Muv-Luv Alternative
The third game is set three years after the events of the prequel where Takeru is still trapped in the parallel world of Unlimited.
