Review: Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors – PS Vita (8/10)
Not Long ago, Criminal Girls: Invite only came out and I admit I passed on it but Criminal Girls 2 got my attention both for good and bad but mostly good.
In Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors you are an instructor leading seven girls through hell to reform and getting out from sticky situations so to speak and hell couldn’t be more fun. Each character has a backstory which you will learn through different towers you travel through and bosses sit on top of the last floors. Grinding is the key in the game but a bigger part is motivation.
Motivation is a form of punishment to whoever of the seven you pick and requires points you earn after each battle. With motivation, the girls will level up and can gain skills like magic attacks, healing, double or quad attack. The motivations are anywhere from scrubbing to shocking the hell out of them and higher level ups change the way you play them.
Grinding is something you better get used to because higher floors mean stronger enemies just like in your typical dungeon crawlers. The battle screen has you being able to coach the girls and S and M positions matter because one relies on attack and the other for defense.
You will get a camp every other floor which grants you the motivation option as well as rest and shop features. You also will gain field skills which are very useful like no random encounters for a short bit or fast travel to the last camp visited. Girl wishes are another thing you will get that once completed which gains you different traits like one less point needed for skills and 75% motivation which is half cost.
Conclusion
Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors is entertaining and definitely is a party but it doesn’t do favors with the grinding aspect. The game does get to a point where some fun is lost like in higher towers for instance but hell is hard anyway. If you like dungeon crawlers you will like this title and enjoy the party even through the grind.
