I’m not sure how KT can justify spending $40 for a PSVita demon-hunting game.
Don’t get me wrong, I get all the open-world, Vita port-takes-time, cross-platform stuff and all, I just do not see a game worth $39,99 here. Animations are decent-at-best but even Ragnarok Odyssey ACE has more going for it than this. The game gets repetitive very quickly and after spending a few hours on it, I bet you won’t jump back to pick up where you left off because this game does not offer that much replayability. While I’m glad they didn’t pull a dick move on us (like Arrowhead did) if you want to play with some company and not be forced into playing online in order to do so, I expected much more from Toukiden. There is no exclusive character in the US edition and on top of that, I can’t help but feel like the game is a series of checkmarks, lacking enough effort for the player to care about some background story or even finish the game.
I spent $39,99 on DQ Builders, a game which never received an update after release. No extra maps, no extra stuff. Big mistake. I won’t do this again. Maybe I’ll go pick this one up on a sale, who knows.
