Yomawari: Midnight Shadows Gets Its First Screenshots And Details

Nippon Ichi Software has released the first screenshots and details for its recently announced Yomawari: Midnight Shadows for PS Vita and PS4.

Yomawari: Midnight Shadows follows the story of the two little girls Yui and Haru who went to the mountains to see the fireworks at the end of their summer vacation. However they could not find their way back home anymore and when they let go of each other’s hands, the two girls got separated. The two girls will explore an ominous night town where strange spirits are lurking in the shadows.

The game’s goal is to search for each other and wander through the dead of the night. The town at night is completely different than during the day. The story advances while switching between the perspectives of both girls. Actions you take and information you gain during the story of one girl can be useful during the story of the other girl. Both stories will overlap while you progress.

Like in the predecessor, the only source of light is a flashlight that the girls carry in their hands. While exploring the night town you may encounter strange spirits that are lurking in various places such as the shade of the mountain, street corners, and below the street lights. These spirits sometimes attack the girls and as they are not always visible, you need to pay attention to the sound of the girl’s heartbeat. Based on the situation, you either run away and escape, or you use an item, or hide.

Yomawari: Midnight Shadows has new interior stages such as libraries and ruined houses, and the map size is twice the size of the first game. The graphics have also evolved and in addition to the standard, top-down angled view, some maps will switch to a side-view. Side-view maps include faraway mountains and townscapes in the background, allowing you to feel a greater sense of depth.

Yomawari: Midnight Shadows will be released for PS Vita and PS4 in Japan on August 24, 2017 and in North America and Europe in Fall 2017.
