NIS America Will Continue To Support PS Vita Digitally But It’s Challenging
NIS America’s senior associate producer Alan Costa has revealed in an interview with MCV that the company will continue to support the PS Vita digitally but he admits that “it’s definitely a challenge.”
Costa said to MCV that the “fan base of the PS Vita is incredibly hardcore and it’s pretty established in terms of what kind content they liked.” But he also believes that the Vita “isn’t really the place to be right now”.
NIS America is one of the final supporters of the PS Vita as a platform but CEO Takuro Yamashita confirmed to MCV that Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony and YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana could be the last PS Vita titles that receive a physical release.
“The PS Vita is obviously on its way out, and the Switch is very, very strong. One thing in particular that makes it strong is that it has that handheld function, so going forward as a company, we want to target PS4, Steam and Switch, because over the next two years, the Switch market is only going to grow and become stronger.
However, we are also known as a company that’s really hung in there and is still one of the final supporters of the Vita as a platform. We will continue to support it digitally, but there’s a very strong chance that the final physical titles from us for the Vita will be Ys VIII and Danganronpa V3. That’s the strategy.”

No, it’s not challenging. Every Limited Edition they released for Vita sold out. They got lucky on the Switch launch with Disgaea 5, and now think they can charge more for their games.
It wasn’t luck. They switch is killing it in Japan right now. while the Vita is not.
It wasn’t luck as the switch is successful unlike the dead Vita.
Yeah I kinda figured the PSVITA is on it’s way out, with all the focus being on the SWITCH, it makes sense that the dev’s and the publishers are starting to look at the future. However, I am not looking forward to that eventual digital only future 🙁
Digital only is the best thing for games. Besides Vita was long dead before the Switch was even revealed.
You should simply admit that japanese-only games mean “no games” or “dead handheld” to you
Ah the Vita fanboy himself. No not getting first party or third party support means dead platform. All the Vita Japaneses support is going rightfully to PC, SWITCH AND ps4. By the way did you know you got unbanned from Nichegamer?
It’s still getting japanese games regardless they’re in majority crossplatform now. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s obviously not going to get the interest of people who cant into japanese or simply never owned a vita in the first place.
And no I’m still banned on Nichegamer, despite Brandon saying otherwise. Not that it matters much in the end.
It’s been always an issue in the Vita from a west standpoint, since like 2015 (do you recall the Atelier games, Sayonara Umishiwarase, Ar No Surge, EDF3 for instance). Were you kind of living under a rock?
Not like ””NISA”” announcement is gonna stop me getting japanese physical imports anyway
Yeah, yeah, Vita’s a sinking ship. I don’t mind digital only games, but hopefully they’ll team up with LRG or Badland Games and put out limited releases
