2064: Read Only Memories For PS Vita Cancelled, Switch Version Out In Q1 2018

In a recent post on Kickstarter, MidBoss has announced that 2064: Read Only Memories for PS Vita has been cancelled.

According to the developer, they tried to get the game to run on the PS Vita but the way they built the original engine, it was just not made for the amount of memory the PS Vita has (512 MB for games):

“We spent a lot of money and time trying to get this to work, but it just is not meant to be. We are pretty crushed over here too … In the future, we’ll make sure the build our games knowing the limitations of the platforms we’re aiming for before making any assumptions if we’ll actually be able to execute.”

The developer also announced that the Nintendo Switch version 2064: Read Only Memories Integral is scheduled to be released in February/March 2018 for $20.69. It will include additional content like trailers, art, music and more in a special bonus “zome”.

MidBoss is also looking to do a physical Nintendo Switch release with the publisher Limited Run Games.

The Switch is the final nail on the Vita’s coffin. Farewall PS Vita, you were a misunderstood little piece of wonder. Negleced in your cradle and unknown to society, you had to rely on the kindness of strangers. The few that loved you though, have loved you dearly.

Disregard that it’s getting titles fall 2017 and in 2018, but I guess japanese-only releases might as well be “no games” for the majority of folks

Also it’s not like 2064 being cancelled was a loss in any way, to be honest.

I am all about JRPG’s, that’s what I bought the Vita for. This is also the system that made me discover VN’s thanks to Steins:Gate and Danganronpa. To me the system is a gem, and I agree, we’re getting games this year and some next year. But that’s it. This is not only about 2064, Nis America said something along these lines too. I’d be glad to be proven wrong though!

NISA (alongside of Aksys) is absolutely cancer though, considering the amount of screw ups they made when localizing over the japanese games, so their announcement is not something nobody should particularly care. Even PQube and XSeed had their fair amount of screw ups (mostly typos and mis-translations).

I suppose it’s truly dead for non-japanese speakers but that was also the case for the PSP, when it was still getting games on the japanese soil around 2010-2012 but was “dead” in the West during that time.

There’s no quicker way for your comment to be dismissed than to use SJW as an insult. As if social justice were something to be sneered at. Please, leave me alone.

How can you not know how feminist are killing gaming?
