Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX Nintendo Switch Review Impressions + Gameplay

Release date: June 22, 2021. Price: $19.99. Game file size: 971 MB.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a beautiful recreation of Sega’s iconic platformer. The new HD graphics are colorful and the new remastered music is awesome.

You can switch between the new DX version and the classic version by pressing the ZR button. A great feature is the option for infinite lifes which helps that any player can make it through the game.

Unfortunately, the frame rate on Switch in the DX version is not good. It’s probably 25-30 fps in the DX version which makes controlling Alex feel laggy and imprecise. The frame rate in the classic version is more stable, something like 30+ fps. Performance is the same in docked and handheld mode.

Compared to the PC version which runs more fluidly, the game plays worse on Switch. There’s still fun to be had with the Switch version but hopefully the developer will release a patch to improve the frame rate issues on Switch.
