Legend of Mana Remastered Nintendo Switch Review Impressions + Gameplay

Release date: June 24, 2021. Price: $29.99. Game file size: 5.1 GB.

Legend of Mana is a remastered version of the 1999 released PlayStation game. The new graphics are beautiful and the newly arranged soundtrack is awesome. There’s an option to choose between the new and original soundtrack.

As this is a remastered version, gameplay wise it’s pretty the same as the original release. Therefore, the whole game has quite a retro vibe to it. There is no progressing story, instead there are quest that have little to no connection. Depending on the quests you choose, the game develops.

Battles are more like a hack-and-slash action game with button smashing. Controlling your character feels a bit laggy and the hit detection of enemies seems to be a bit off. Also, talking with NPCs can be tricky as you need stand at the extact position to be able to start a conversation.

If a quest has a partner option it can be controlled automatically by the AI or by a co-op player. Quests with partners are pretty easy compared to those which you fight alone. Thankfully, there’s an option to turn off enemy encounters which makes life easier.

Overall, Legend of Mana is a charming action RPG with great beautiful graphics and a wonderful soundtrack.
