Secrets of the Coven is a free update for Darkest Dungeon II: Kingdoms, bringing a new quest, enemy faction, gameplay mechanics, and items—plus community-requested features like inn storage and item selling. It first launched on Steam for PC and Mac in April, followed by PlayStation earlier this month.

Creative Director Chris Bourassa shares his thoughts on the update:
“Secrets of the Coven feels very different from Hunger of the Beast Clan. The pacing, mechanics, and quest flow stand apart, and the new enemy faction adds a fresh challenge. We’ve explored new territory with this one, and can’t wait to see how players respond.”

Kingdoms is a free game mode that reshapes the Darkest Dungeon II experience, offering three adventure modules. Hunger of the Beast Clan kicked things off, now followed by Secrets of the Coven, where players must defend the realm and its inns against powerful factions like The Beastmen and The Coven. A third adventure module is in the works for 2025.
