First Look At Super Star Wars On The PS Vita

The side-scrolling action-platformer Super Star Wars in now available for the PS Vita and PS4 in North America via the PlayStation Network as Cross-Buy. We take a first look at the enhanced PS Vita version.

Super Star Wars was originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1992 and later on the Wii Virtual Console in 2009 and is based on the 1977 movie Star Wars where the Rebel Alliance attempts to destroy the Galactic Empire’s Death Star.

In Super Star Wars you play as Luke, Han, and Chewbacca and fight in various locations against the evil Empire. Most of the levels are in 2D and some in 3D where you control an X-Wing or landspeeder. Some of the levels feature boss fights where you meet bosses like Sarlacc Pit Monster, Lava Beast Jawenko, Mutant Womprat, and more.

The enhanced PS Vita and PS4 versions include PSN trophies, a new save feature, individual control options, and various display modes to change the border type, remove the borders completely or set the game to full screen. Filter options include scanline, crips, and smooth and the sound option lets you choose between Stereo and Mono.

Super Star Wars offers three difficulty settings (Easy, Brave, Jedi) with Brave as default setting but it is recommended to change it to Easy as Brave is already quite tough.
